I’ve been spending a lot more time in the bathroom lately. But it’s not what you think! We’ve hit that time of year when mother nature hates us in the cooler climates and rarely gifts us with sunshine and warmth. While we’ve all been impatiently waiting for spring and summer, here’s the unfortunate truth:
Your skin has been drying out for months!
No amount of lotion or body butter alone can keep up with the damage that winter is currently causing to our skin. Our skin naturally regenerates so that it can protect us, and in doing so, the outermost layer gets dry and crackly. That layer of skin is just dry dead skin cells that are desperately screaming, “It’s time to exfoliate: scrub, scrub, scrub!”
Body scrubs are wonderful and you can find them everywhere! They’re filled with three main ingredients: an exfoliant (scrubbing agent), oil, and fragrance. Typically you can find them in a jar or squeezable bottle. The benefits of exfoliating include three main things we can all agree are wins:
Increased blood circulation
Younger looking skin = younger looking you
Increased glow and health of your skin
We’re approaching (I know. . .SO slowly!) the season of SO MUCH EXPOSED SKIN. Don’t you want yours to look and feel as great as possible? With just a few minutes you can improve the look and feel of your skin and have all you girlfriends saying, “Your arms and legs look incredible! Have you started working out?” Yes, you have. . . in the bathroom!
I recommend exfoliating anywhere from 1-3 times a week.
Everyone’s skin is different, so start with once a week, see how your skin reacts, and adjust from there. Once you’re in a routine, it’s like clockwork. Here’s the schedule I like to use:
For the ultimate start to the week, try the following on Sunday:
Put fresh sheets on your bed
Shower: exfoliate and shave
Moisturize with a creamy body butter: after all that scrubbing you need to lock some moisture into that newly revealed skin
Have the best, most luxurious sleep of your life!
Two of my favorite scrubs come from Soap & Glory.
Consider this a free pass to shop!
